Covering Canada’s Temporary Foreign Workers

Almost 600,000 new TFW and IMP work permits were issued in 2022, a 46% increase from 2021. The provinces that receive the most foreign workers are Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Alberta as these regions have the highest number of job vacancies.

When temporary foreign workers (TFWs) arrive in Canada, they may not be eligible for provincial healthcare right away as there are often waiting periods and it can take six months or longer for a healthcare application to be approved. During this gap, employers are legally required to provide emergency medical care for TFWs.

Sutton’s Temporary Foreign Worker Benefits Plan covers Canada’s foreign workers and is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the TFWP. Sutton’s comprehensive plan includes:

  • Emergency Medical Care

  • Transportation Expenses

  • 24/7 Assistance Services

  • AD&D Coverage
