June is Stroke Awareness Month in Canada
More than 100,000 Canadians suffer a stroke each year, roughly 1 every 5 minutes.1 Although many people believe that stroke only affects the elderly, in reality, stroke can happen at any age, and a growing number of people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s are experiencing them, partly due to low physical activity, poor diet, and stress.2
Unfortunately, many stroke patients are faced with permanent impairments and half of all people in Canada living with stroke need some help with basic daily activities, such as eating, bathing, dressing, and getting around.3
Critical Illness and Disability insurance coverage provides financial protection in the event of stroke and other serious illnesses that can suddenly and permanently impact families.
